Nelson Lewis in Media

While studying at Lynn University, Nelson Lewis was fortunate enough to have become friends with Irving R. Levine, a longtime correspondent at NBC News.  The late NBC newsman became a mentor for Nelson, encouraging him to move to Washington and start a media career.  Nelson heeded Levine’s sage advice and upon completion of a congressional internship, he began working as a talent booker at Fox News, booking produce segments for the network’s daytime programming, and also heeded Levine’s advice to attend graduate school and enrolled in Georgetown’s graduate program in political journalism.

While working at Fox News, Nelson booked numerous famous guests.  Among his favorite guests to book include former house speaker Newt Gingrich, Col. Paul Lockhart, Dr. Buzz Aldrin and Fox News Contributors Bob Beckel, Capt. Chuck Nash, Lt. General Tom McInerny, Maj. Gen Bob Scales and former astronaut Dr. Tom Jones just to name a few.

Throughout his media career – from an anchor-reporter at the age of 12 to his seven years in Washington media – Nelson Lewis has gained invaluable media management skills and a well-rounded insider’s perspective on American media.  He’s worked in the mediums of television and radio broadcasting, and is experienced in the realm of digital reporting as well. Due to his family’s broadcasting enterprises, Nelson was fortunate enough to have been able to begin a career in television at the local level from a very young age.  For four years, he worked as an anchor-reporter covering youth issues in his native Savannah on the cities ABC and Fox affiliates, and later went on to booking segments at America’s leading cable news outlet, Fox News Channel, while attending graduate school at nearby Georgetown University at night or on days off.

Nelson holds professional voting membership in the National Academy of Television, Arts and Sciences National Capital/Chesapeake Bay chapter and is an active member of the Old Dominion Boat Club in Alexandria.  The organization is considered to be the birthplace of scholastic rowing in Virginia.
